DCP Abba Kyari was granted bail after serving 18 months in prison

Abba Kyari, the Deputy Commissioner of Police who has been suspended, has been granted bail by an Abuja Federal High Court.

On Thursday, Kyari, who has been detained since his arrest in 2022, received bail.

The former police chief is reportedly wanted by the National Anti-Drug Trafficking Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly taking part in the illegal sale of 25 kg of cocaine.

Following his arrest and court appearance, the judge ordered that he be held at Abuja's Kuje jail.

A committee to look into the previous head of the police's IRT's actions has been formed by the police.

He was later fired from his position.

His bail was granted on severe terms by Justice Kolawole Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

Kyari's case is still being heard by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, nevertheless.
