Five people died and 12 were injured in a car accident in Nigeria

At least five people have been confirmed dead after a collision between a pickup truck and a lorry on the Lagos to Ibadan highway.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the spokesperson of the National Disaster Management Authority in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident while talking to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Okpe said the accident happened on Sunday morning around 6am.

She said the truck had a problem when one of its tires burst due to speeding, which later caused a serious accident.

She said 21 people were injured, five passengers died while 12 others were injured.

She also added that those who were injured were rushed to a nearby hospital to check their health.
