 Kaduna State Governorship Election Contest...

The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has stated that the witnesses of the main opposition party, PDP, which is challenging him to win the election, have confirmed his victory unknowingly.

He disclosed this in his final speech to the Kaduna governorship election hearing court, which was represented by his legal team led by the former Attorney General of the Federal Government and Minister of Justice, Chief Bayo Ojo.

The main opposition party has challenged the declaration of Uba Sani as the winner of the election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with its candidate Mohammed Ashiru Isa, they are asking for a re-election.

In the case challenging Uba Sani's victory, the plaintiffs called 24 witnesses and presented them in court.

On Monday, September 4, the Kaduna State governorship election hearing court completed the response to all the evidence presented to it, which is now awaiting a verdict.

According to the governor, the petitioners helped him to secure his success in winning the Kaduna State governorship election, where they pointed to the receipt of evidence from Bonett Gwazah, a senior communications analyst at INEC in Kaduna State.

The governor through his lawyer said, "The petitioners called a total of 24 witnesses, most of whose sworn statements were presented based on the warrant issued during the hearing of the case.

"After the witnesses' answers were closed, the defendant did not have any need to call witnesses, after they produced enough evidence under the investigation, the witnesses supported the defendant's side."

The court hearing the case under the ahari, Bictor Obiawie, has promised at all times that it will decide in the future in a fair way for all parties.

The Electoral Commission, which was the first to which the complaint was filed, raised the issue of a mistake made by the petitioners in accepting the electoral documents.

Meanwhile, the candidate for governor of Kaduna State under the PDP party in the election held on March 18, 2023, Hon. Isa Ashiru, stated that the results of two conflicting elections from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kaduna State, which according to him, prevented him from winning the election.

The governorship candidate of the PDP stated this before the Kaduna State governorship election hearing court, where he emphasized that INEC changed the original election results to give the APC the ruling party in the state.

After presenting his final written statement before the 3-man court led by Bictor Obiawie, Ashiru through his attorney general, Oluwole Iyamu stated that INEC changed the results of the election.

Ashiru also alleged that there were illegal votes and non-compliance with the electoral process, while he called on INEC not to reveal the name of Uba Sani as the winner of the Kaduna State governorship election.

In the meantime, after receiving the final arguments from each side, the court postponed the decision until another day to inform the lawyers in the future.

Right now, the final decision is awaited.
